Prof. Mookambeswaran A Vijayalakshmi Professor, Centre for BioSeparation Technology, Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) Prof. Vijayalakshmi, a world-renowned scientist in separation sciences and molecular interactions, is the Founder Director of the Centre for BioSeparation Technology (CBST) at VIT. It is the first of its kind established by government of India bringing her back from Europe after 35 years of professional success to provide scientific strength in innovative research and industrial development. She has held numerous distinguished positions in international and national scientific and professional organisations and has been recipient of sevreal prestigious titles and awards including Chevalier confer by French government. She played a key role in mentoring and encouraging high level science with industry-focused education and training. She has single handily mentored 65 Ph.D. scholars from 38 countries covering all continents and the majority of them are now working in global biopharmaceutical and academia, with outstanding career achievements. She has served as a Visiting Professor for teaching and research in different establishments in countries all over the world and was instrumental in the signing collaboration agreement between academia and industrial structures.
